Expandable GraphiteExpandable graphite is produced by the chemical or electrolytic treatment of quality flake graphite, which expands to many times its original volume when exposed to rapid, intense heating. It can be recompressed into a flexible, tough, and heat- and chemical-resistant sheet having a high degree of cohesive integrity. This expanded graphite can then be reinforced with any material to add toughness to the resulting sheets.
